Version 6.0

Beemo V6 - Official Launch

In 2022 I announced a major change to Beemo that would fix a lot of the issues I had with the bot as well introduce tons of new features to enhance this passion project of mine as I continue to make cool things for you guys.

lol

Unfortunately, it was delayed. Like, super delayed. On top of the major database corruption incident of 2023 I was also dealing with hardware issues, the new Discord API changes that screwed a lot of devs over, among other things.

Fast forward to 2026 and Beemo is now better than ever. He now lives in a proper homelab server with a robust data storage solution for reliability and redundancy. I've also switched over to MacOS as my primary OS which increased productivity SIGNIFICANTLY (seriously, coding on a MacBook is so much better) and I'm finally confident enough in his codebase to introduce to you guys Beemo V6. A lot of it is stuff you guys have already been playing around with but it's now ready for an official rollout to all servers!

There are five big things that I want to highlight:

1. Console

Console is the dashboard I started working on in 2021. It's essentially another way to interact with Beemo that helps avoid using a bunch of confusing commands to, say, edit your background image for the Profile module. It also shows a lot of cool stats, and is now the future home of the new Support System, which I'll go over below. There are currently only a small selection of Console-ready modules, but I plan on integrating as much as I can add(if it makes sense to).

2. Help Module and Support System

A brand new Help system now hooks into existing modules where I can easily create Help context without manually updating a file. Previously, each command would have to be logged and hardcoded. It is now a dedicated function and I simply have to add it as a "comment" while making changes/creating new features to have it auto added to the Help menu. It also takes advantage of the new Components V2 system and looks much better.

As for the Support System, I released an early access version a while back, but it now lives in Console! Users can report issues and leave feedback directly, and I can keep track of everything in one place. No more DMs about something being broken that I don't see until 2 years later, or getting tagged in chat just for it to disappear into the void of 43,000 messages.

3. Economy Refactor

V6 introduces a full economy refactor (not just a wipe) that would hopefully prevent future wipes from ever happening again, at least not at the frequency it used to be. Every transaction is now logged, tracked, and verified using a custom algorithm that predicts whether it's going to negatively affect the economy so I can tune and adjust values before it gets out of hand. With a detailed economy log and ledger I can tap into every module, from Stocks to Fishing, patching holes where I can and putting ceilings where needed. I even have a custom ML algorithm that flags high amount/frequency transactions for me to review. I hope to reduce the chance of people becoming billionaires overnight and inflating the economy :)

4. Core and Guardian

Beemo is now separated into two separate processes - Core is the local bot that runs in the homelab server and is what powers 90% of his functionality. Guardian powers Beemo's moderation tools and other server-critical features, ensuring they remain operational when the main process is offline (power outage, ISP maintenance, etc.). Guardian sits in a VPS in Sweden with multiple redundancies to ensure 99.99% uptime. Filters, mod tools, etc. will continue to work even if my house is being attacked by tornadoes!

woooo

5. Beemo is now a verified bot!

I've held off on this intentionally since verification required giving Discord my government-issued ID but I weighed the pros against the cons and figured giving them what they probably already have was worth the verification status which limited Beemo to a limited number of servers, among other functionality. He is now a verified bot and proudly wears his little Discord checkmark!

Keep in mind, this V6 launch is still missing a lot of features - I plan on releasing them later on in smaller updates. Keep an eye out for more cool stuff :)

What's new

  • Gacha: An all-new gacha system that replaces the old Pokemon one with a classic gacha experience featuring characters from anime, video games, movies, animations, pop culture, and more!

Changes

  • Bank: Banks now use the previous GTA bank names(bank thumbnails are removed for now)
  • Casino: Scratch cards and roulette payouts were rebalanced
  • Mini-games: Removed Garage, Mining, Cargo and Jobs modules (will be reintroduced later)
  • Fishing: Fish prices were rebalanced, and the .fish cooldown is now 2 minutes
  • Help: Refactored the Help module to take advantage of the new module hooks and Components V2 system
  • Loans: Overdue loans are now enforced: what you owe is collected, your credit score drops and you cannot borrow for 14 days
  • Property: Property prices and rent were rebalanced
  • Stocks: The stock market now uses real brands instead of Star Citizen companies, with trading fees, position limits and rebalanced events
  • TypingGame: .typegame is no longer a solo minigame - it now prompts the current channel to see who can type the message first

Bug fixes

  • Economy: Fixed several bugs that could duplicate money when commands were used at the same time (lootbox, free money, fishing, property, stocks and loans)
  • Loans: Fixed .loan showing two help menus
  • Piracy: The raid target menu now shows the real dollar bonuses
  • Piracy: Prison times are now accurate: the raid menu shows each target's expected prison time, and a failed raid explains how its prison time was worked out

Note: unfortunately, all Star Citizen related mini-games had to be taken down. I will be re-skinning these using the same core mechanics and features but all Star Citizen-related names and images will be gone. All SC-related tools and utilities, however, are unaffected.
